We have 51 days left in our New York City adventure ... it is weird to know that it will be coming to an end soon, but the reality is starting to set in and we are doing our best to make the most of our last few weeks here.
We still do not know where we will land next and are eager to see what God will surprise us with. We have started looking a little more seriously into northwest Montana and have a few leads there, but nothing is for sure yet.
In the meantime, we catch an early morning flight on July 7th, heading to Spokane where we will visit with Jason's family. We will all take a road trip to North Dakota for the "turtle days" festival and somewhat of a Schlafmann family reunion. After a bit more time in Spokane, we will head down to California (borrowing the awesome orange Datsun again - thanks Melody!) and spend time in Atascadero and L.A. visiting with my family and friends...
After that....we'll see!

How we got here ... with a couple babies!
We first met in 2006. We'd both quit our jobs and gotten rid of nearly all our possessions to join the Peace Corps. We were headed to the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific. We thought we were prepared for whatever lay ahead, but neither of us had a clue.
In just over 10 months, we were MARRIED!
Since then our adventures have included:
- a year in New York City, living in a Harlem brownstone apartment
- going off-the-grid & into a tent-cabin on tiny Angaur island in Palau
- living with a bunch of teenagers in Shanghai, China while working as dormitory parents
- off-the-grid again & into a barn on 400 forested acres in Vermont
- at the base of volcanos in beautiful Panajachel, Guatemala
- 3 years in North Idaho working on a new career path
And now post career change, we find ourselves in S. Dakota (of all places!!!)
We love to experience this great big world and hope you will join us for the journey!
