Palaces, Temples & Monasteries

The Potala Palace in Lhasa ... winter home to the Dalai Lama until he had to leave China-controlled Tibet in 1960.  An incredible structure where we watched Tibetan pilgrims pay homage with scarves and yak butter.

At Sera Monastery in Lhasa ... famous for it's debating monks.  Every afternoon this courtyard fills up with monks debating their points of view on various topics.  Some of them were quite animated!

Jokang Temple in Lhasa.

Faithful followers and pilgrims prostrate themselves over and over again outside the temple.

At the Tashilumpu Monastery in Shigatse, Tibet.

Looks like we found a monk friend!
